Faith in Action ...
|
In Quaker Week 2010 several Leicester Quakers explained what faith in action means for them today ... what it means to them as individuals ... why it matters to them and what they do to 'make their lives speak'. Read their accounts in Quaker Week Newsletter here |
Our 2010 Quaker week in Leicester also included other action-related events:
(i) 'Enviro Kids in the Park' (an activity for children about caring for the local environment. Children met one of the local park wardens and planted scores of crocus corms for next year)
(ii) “Chocolate Unwrapped” - two talks about the Cadbury and Rowntree families in the chocolate business and how their faith led to social action both as employers and through the charitable trusts which they set up.
(iii) Two talks about what young Quakers are currently doing in Peace Work. One, by Daniel Edge, was about the Christian Muslim Forum and the other, by Chris Walker, was about the 'Alternatives to Violence' programme. Chris has just begun work in that programme at Friends' House London, and he gave us an up-to-date account of its aims and methods.
