2nd December 2009

... a quiet time reflecting on food ... and swapping ideas for food preparation .....

Note: After the last meeting, Tamar received an email from Caroline Lucas of the Green Party, responding to the letter which had been sent to her on behalf of the group.  Encouragingly the group have collectively done practically everything suggested in the email.  The text of the email can be read here.

With the Copenhagen climate summit in mind, this recent article (Copenhagen Calling- Quakers and the climate emergency)* in The Friend by Chris Walker of this meeting, draws on the Quaker testimonies we have considered in previous Green Living group meetings and calls for positive action.

Chris has also drawn attention to the following local 'controversy'

"Have you read about the climate change denier MEP who has criticised the Bishop of Leicester for being vocal on it? [The original 'article' *was in the Leicester Mercury and was also reported in the Independent]*
Green group may be interested in it/ want to write a letter to the Bishop in support?
The Bishop has written [a] reply* to the MEP in Leicester Mercury" [Chris Walker]
